How do hurricanes happen?
A hurricane is created over an ocean that has to be above 80 degrees fahrenheit. This way the ocean will give the energy for the energy to form. Humid air rising from the ocean makes clouds of the storms and light winds let the hurricane grow and spin the hurricane counter clockwise.

Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Katrina began on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 in the Bahamas and ending on Monday, August 29, 2005 in Mississippi and Louisiana. It was one of the hurricanes that had made the most impact on the United States for over a century. It's speed was 125 mph and it devastated the Gulf Coasts States. There were flooding, water outages, power outages, building damage, and killed many animals. Not only did this monstrous natural disaster kill animals, but it killed more than 8,000 lives.
